Main Street Mural Artist Selected
Design to be revealed April 16 at community event

Destination Downtown’s selection committee has chosen an artist to create and install a new mural in the alleyway between 948 and 954 Main Street on the Donahue Real Estate building in downtown Walpole. She is mural artist Ruby Rose from Roslindale who owns a Boston-based mural production company called Bullseye Mural. Ruby was selected from more than two dozen applications submitted by talented artists from across the country. “This mural isn’t just art, it’s a celebration of Walpole,” said Destination Downtown President Sarah Khatib. “Ruby Rose’s design beautifully captures Walpole, our community, and the vibrant spirit of our people.”
Ruby’s love of wall art began in 2011 as a member of the Mayor’s Mural Crew, the City of Boston’s Parks and Recreation program that has beautified neighborhoods since 1991. She spent five summers crisscrossing the city with the Mayor’s Mural Crew. Examples of her artwork can be found at https://www.bullseyemuralco.com and on Instagram.
There will be a community event to reveal the mural design on Wednesday, April 16 from 7:00 to 8:00 pm in the Community Room at the Walpole Public Library, with installation of the mural to begin during the latter half of April. The artist is scheduled to be at the event to meet local residents and talk about her design. Weather permitting, the expectation is for the mural to be finished in time to celebrate its completion on Saturday, May 10 at the annual Walpole Day event. There will be a follow-on campaign to upgrade the landscaping in the vicinity of the mural.
Beyond the mural itself, Destination Downtown will also initiate an effort to improve the landscaping in the space adjacent to the mural site, which is the access alleyway that connects the large public parking lot to downtown businesses.
