New Clock Installed on Town Common
22 November 2025
A striking new antique-style clock now stands near the C.S. Bird Fountain at Walpole Town Common, just across from the post office. Its four illuminated faces show the time in every direction, day and night. The clock’s base holds a commemorative plaque noting that Walpole Co-Operative Bank donated it in celebration of Walpole’s 300th anniversary, covering all costs. Since last spring, the Walpole, MA 300th Anniversary has worked diligently to secure and install this clock on the Town Common. A HUGE thank you to Walpole Co-Operative Bank for this generous contribution to the town!
The bricks that make up the hardscape patio that the new clock sits on are repurposed bricks left over from a project at the Bird Middle School. Two cement sitting benches were also installed around the clock.
In addition to the generous donation by Walpole Co-Operative Bank, Royer Tree Service donated their crane to lift the clock to put it in position, and Anderson Electric donated their time and materials for the wiring that powers the clock. Thank you to DPW workers (Jacob Cappuccino and Chris Hilton in photo) for their work on this installation which was completed on November 14.
