World Cup Soccer Comes to Our Neighborhood!

Enjoy the excitement at your favorite downtown Walpole establishment!

You might sense a buzz to our local area beginning this week as soccer fans from across the globe visit our corner of the world to cheer on their nation in the World Cup tournament.  It’s been 32 years since the United States has served as host to this quadrennial event.  Games begin on June 11 and run for nearly seven weeks, culminating in the championship game on July 19.  Canada and Mexico will also be hosting games in this global spectacle.

Seven of the 104 tournament matches will be held at Gillette Stadium in neighboring Foxboro.  Additionally, Team USA will play three games in the opening round pool play, with the opportunity to play more based on their success against first round opponents.

Throughout the tournament there is expected to be an influx of visitors to neighboring towns who’ll be joining the locals to watch the excitement on television in public restaurants.  Most of the restaurants in Walpole are expected to be showing the games, so come join the excitement at your favorite downtown establishment!  The interest level locally here in Walpole is likely to be highest for games taking place down the road on Route 1, and those involving our own Team USA.  Below is a schedule of those key games.  Make your way downtown and be a part of it!
